Ladle ID for one-click steelmaking
IndustrySteel · Steelmaking LocationShanghai, Baoshan Year2018
01

Overview

EMMA-ID system covering 39 ladles in Baosteel converter shop, two tags each, providing a reliable ladle identity base for one-click steelmaking. Stable operation for over 7 years since 2019.

02

Challenges

Steel plants run many ladles at high turnover. Manual ID and barcode/QR fail frequently under heat, dust and splash; a wrong ladle identity breaks the steelmaking model and risks safety.

01Shell temperatures kill ordinary RFID and labels within a campaign
02Manual matching hides wrong or missed ladles until it is too late
03One-click steelmaking needs complete, accurate, real-time ladle data
03

Solution

EMMA tags build a one-identity-per-ladle system; a reader network covers all steelmaking positions and integrates with L2/L3 systems.

HT tag network
Two HT tags per ladle, symmetrically mounted; single-tag failure never blocks ID
Reader stations
Radar and HT antennas at converter, refining and casting positions for seamless handover
System integration
ID data streams into hot-metal logistics and steelmaking models in real time
Lifecycle O&M
Tag lifetime ledgers and online diagnostics sustain 7+ years of operation
